LeaseWeb, a leading global hosting provider, has appointed Herke Plantenga as new Managing Director of LeaseWeb Deutschland GmbH, with immediate effect. He takes up the role, previously held by Wiethold Wagner, who moves to focus on delivering new business and future sales strategy.

Plantenga has over ten years of experience in the IT industry and in his new role at Europe's leading hosting provider in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), he will manage the business. His responsibilities include driving growth in Germany, identifying new data centers to expand in, forming strategic partnerships and strengthening the team for further expansion.

Plantenga previously served as General Manager of Webprint, where he achieved rapid growth for the company. In 1999 he founded Virtu, a company that quickly evolved from a web project through to a data center business, and resulted in acquisition by Equinix in 2008. Virtu was one of the fastest growing technology companies in the Netherlands and was included in the Deloitte Fast 50 in three successive years.

"We are pleased to be able to appoint such an experienced leader as Herke Plantenga to head up our international management team from Germany," says Con Zwinkels, Managing Director at LeaseWeb. "As a true veteran of the data center industry he knows very well the challenges of our business, and will be the ideal partner for our German customers and partners in their growth."

"I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead," said Plantenga of his new role. "I am convinced that with LeaseWeb‘s outstanding in-house team and first-class business infrastructure we will continue to enrich the German customer experience."
