Growth after international expansion
Delivering live stream videos to millions of viewers
Jet-Stream is an award-winning streaming platform for leading broadcasters, publishers, sports clubs, events, studios, advertising agencies, video producers and brands.
Jet-Stream was founded by Stef van der Ziel who was one of the pioneers of video streaming. In 1994, Stef broadcasted a live pop concert (which was taking place in Groningen) on the Internet, which was one of the first ever live stream videos. A few years later he founded Jet-Stream, with the mission of professionalizing live streaming over the Internet.
Jet-Stream started off hosting and managing their own infrastructure. They wanted to move away from infrastructure operations so they could focus more on software development and growth, with sights on expanding the business across Europe.
Jet-Stream began looking for a hosting provider that would match their expectations for availability, server and network performance, and capacity on bandwidth.
Video streaming is one of the most bandwidth-intensive applications on the Internet, so finding a quality high bandwidth network was essential. Jet-Stream was looking for a hosting provider that could also match their customers' expectations for uptime and keep their services live at all times. If their customers’ live stream was to go down momentarily, then they quickly lose audiences and the brand damage is devastating.
Jet-Stream is getting the control and performance they need through Leaseweb Dedicated Servers. This is also the most cost-effective solution for Jet-Stream, as the cost per CPU is much lower than alternative hosting services.
Global connectivity for Jet-Stream is powered by the Leaseweb Network, which ensures low latency and high uptime around the world. Jet-Stream takes advantage of Leaseweb’s bandwidth capacity of 6 Tbps, which matches the capacity they need for their streaming services. Through the Leaseweb Network, Jet-Stream can deliver live stream videos to millions of viewers.
Jet-Stream is also utilizing the Leaseweb CDN which provides access to ultramodern SuperPoPs to help deliver the live stream content with lower latency and increased performance.
Jet-Stream makes use of Leaseweb’s Platinum Service Level Agreement (SLA) to get faster response times, priority access to certified engineers, and reduced hourly rates for advanced support. Businesses demanding the highest level of performance and uptime for critical applications and websites find this offers particular value.
Jet-Stream gets their hardware maintained through Leaseweb’s Data Center Engineers. As part of Leaseweb’s Colocation service, certified and highly qualified engineers are available 24/7 to perform any tasks they need.
"We guarantee broadcast-grade uptime to our customers, and Leaseweb is able to support that with their quality hosting services and extended SLAs.”
Stef van der Ziel, Owner, Jet-Stream
Since working with Leaseweb, Jet-Stream has seen improvements in their infrastructure performance and achieved formidable business growth. With remote hands managing their infrastructure and international connectivity, they reached their goal of scaling out of the Netherlands into Europe.
Jet-Stream now has customers across the Nordics, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Germany. By expanding internationally, Jet-Stream achieved 100% growth YoY for the first few years after expansion, a feat that wouldn’t have been possible without Leaseweb’s European hosting facilities and state-of-the-art network.
"In the future, we are going to build a new social streaming monetization platform. Leaseweb’s high bandwidth network and high-performance servers will be the foundation of this new service."
