I am Giancarlo Scaramelli, the Chief Customer Officer at LeaseWeb. In this role, I bring our Customers in everything the company does - everyone is in Customer Care because it is not a department, but an attitude! And we all work with the right attitude towards our Customers and their needs. We are there to provide the right solutions, the right support and the right consultancy.
I have been in the IT related industry for over 30 years and started my journey at ESA, the European Space Agency, where I was hired to program satellites. I have seen how to create a strong Customer focused company while working at Amazon.com where I was IT Service Manager for their European Distribution Centers. Keeping the focus on partnering with our Customers and closing the gap between “us” and “them” has been my own personal motivation for years and also my primary drive during my last occupation prior to LeaseWeb. It was at NetApp where I managed their Customer Briefing Center and really started to bring everything together into a structured approach to Customer Care. This is the very same drive that still excites me every time we receive a “Thank you” note from any of our Customers!
I have completed my studies in Pisa, where I obtained a degree in Informatics in 1984. Earlier on I have attended schools near Detroit, USA where my family lived until in the ‘70’s. I consider myself somewhat of a three culture person: born in Italy, grew up in the USA and now living in The Netherlands. When not at LeaseWeb, I spend my free time with friends and family. I am an avid reader and an even more avid music listener. I also do sport every day to stay in good health. To say however, that I am huge Star Wars fan, is probably an understatement, as my house is filled with Star Wars collectibles.
