The Organization
TTY Internet Solutions is an innovative web builder with a rapidly expanding personnel base of more than 40 employees. It has offices in Amsterdam and Groningen. TTY’s work is always customized, characterized by speed and a strong iterative design process in close collaboration with the customer. Its customer based includes ING, NationaleVacaturebank, Jaap.nl, RVS, and SellaBand. TTY also owns the online marketplace 2ehands.nl, which has localized sites in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. ViaVia is another of the web builder’s sites.

‘We are growing very fast’
TTY Internet Solutions was established in 1997 and its hip roots in the dot com era are still visible. A brainstorming apartment in Barcelona. Its office location is a stylishly renovated, Russian Orthodox conventicle right in the center of Amsterdam. The little church's interior is as hip as the company itself. The new ‘internet’ faith is expressed through the use of transparency, glass. The old faith was retained in elements like the leaded glass and the biblical texts on the balustrade.

"Lovely, isn’t it?” says Michiel van Deursen, director of TTY Internet Solutions. ‘We recently bought the church but it has nearly become too small for us already. TTY is simply growing that fast. More and more project requests are coming in and we are able to accept them because our organization structure is now set up to expand further to 80 employees or more.”

Good Hosting Provider
Experiences with precious hosting providers were unsatisfactory. Which is why TTY started looking for a new hosting provider in 2006. “We wanted more than just a good price – we wanted service, growth capacity and the ability to think along with us,” explains Van Deursen. “We found LeaseWeb via the internet and invited them to discuss the options with us, together with a number of other hosting providers.

We presented several scenarios to each of them and asked them how they would tackle them. For instance relocating a website or solving the rapid growth of data traffic. LeaseWeb clearly stood out from its competition.”

Excellent Price for Hosting
Van Deursen’s enthusiasm when talking about LeaseWeb is remarkable. “We’re simply huge fans of LeaseWeb. Their service, their people, their knowledge. We were immediately impressed with their performance. You’d expect high prices, but the prices are fair. And they are very fast. They have a complete 19 inch rack up and running in no time. They are that big, and at the same time really flexible. They also have properties we recognize in our own organization. The versatility, the professionalism, their growth ambitions, and the ability to think along with customers in an iterative process.”

Scalable Hosting
TTY’s customer base includes many startup companies that want them to develop websites with unique concepts, such as Jaap.nl and SellaBand. On the one hand, this means that the design needs to be customized. On the other, the hosting must be scalable. “Such websites can suddenly generate a great deal of data traffic, Which means that the hosting provider needs to have a certain growth capacity and the ability to scale up quickly if needed,” explains Van Deursen.

Server Leasing
TTY found that LeaseWeb is among the few hosting providers on the market with a highly scalable hosting infrastructure. “Their network bandwidth is already huge, but they can also scale very quickly,” says Van Deursen. “We liked LeaseWeb’s philosophy to always have double the capacity available for customers very much. It enables them to expand very quickly. They also have a great many parts in stock, and engineers who are always willing to contribute to the business. It allows us to focus completely on managing the websites."

Being able to lease servers from LeaseWeb was another argument in favor of teaming up with LeaseWeb. “The leasing option is very attractive to startup companies,” explains Van Deursen. “The startup costs are low and you can let someone else handle the hardware maintenance.”

EvoSwitch: “Wow!”
The TTY Internet Solutions equipment is located at EvoSwitch, the first CO2 neutral data center in the Netherlands. Like LeaseWeb, it is part of the OCOM Group. “I have seen many data centers, but never one this well organized and efficient,” says Van Deursen. “Everything has its place, you can see that they’ve really thought it through. The cages are locked, security is tight. And the Cold Corridors, their huge power capacity – and it’s green power, too! Our first impression of EvoSwitch really wowed us. Absolutely great. And we definitely like the fact that EvoSwitch is CO2 neutral. The green aspect was one of the elements we discussed when talking to Jaap.nl. It can be a sales argument for a range of customers."

LeaseWeb supplies the server environment as well as the network infrastructure. LeaseWeb’s engineers also provide installation, management and knowledge-intensive support on a 24x7 basis. They also make contributions to modifications and/or setting up hosting solutions for new TTY customers.
